Katie Straughn is about to be an Oregon State graduate with a degree in Athletic Training, which is where she finds her greatest passion. Next year she will be going to San José State where she will pursue her masters degree also in Athletic Training. We had so much fun at Reser Stadium and the historic Weatherford Hall on the Oregon State University campus to photograph her college senior portraits! After that we adventured around the Bald Hill Natural Area during sunset to capture the golden light that I love. She has been highly involved in her sorority, Kappa Kappa Gamma, and has made many lifelong relationships during her time living in the Kappa Castle :) During our session she brought a couple of her friends to help out and explained to me that she has the best friends and family a girl could ask for. When I asked her what her favorite days of college were she said that the whole thing has been fun but her most favorite times were when she spontaneously went out with her friends to do random things.
*Special thanks to my PR assistant Jessica Martin who took behind-the-scenes shots of the shoot and documented the whole trip via Snapchat.
Here are 5 things that Katie has learned over the years:
1) Step out of your comfort zone every once in a while. Magical things can happen.
2) Be yourself. No one can tell you how to be the best version of yourself.
3) Sometimes it’s okay to have a night in with friends.
4) Be goofy. It makes life more fun!
5) Call your parents.
Katie, thank you for a wonderful evening spent chasing the sunlight and capturing beautiful photographs with me! I wish you the best as your pursue your dreams and move forward with this next chapter in life.
